Primacy MXM4
The Primacy MXM4 is Michelin’s Grand Touring All-Season tire developed for luxury sedan and coupe drivers looking to combine all-weather handling and traction with good noise and ride comfort. Most Primacy MXM4 tires meet Michelin’s Green X standard* for low rolling resistance that confirms the tire’s contribution to reducing vehicle fuel consumption and emissions of CO2 gases. The Primacy MXM4 is designed to blend a quiet, comfortable ride, responsive handling and enhanced fuel efficiency with year-round all-season traction, even in light snow.
The Primacy MXM4 features Michelin’s first use of their patented sunflower oil-enriched Helio Compound technology in an all-season tire to increase traction at low temperatures for improved braking and handling in the wet, as well as better overall performance in the snow. The Helio Compound is molded into an asymmetric tread design featuring a European handling profile with rounder shoulders that are designed to provide progressive, predictable cornering. Circumferential grooves evacuate water out from under the tire’s footprint to reduce hydroplaning while Michelin’s 3-D Variable Thickness Sipe Technology provides additional biting edges to enhance wet and wintertime traction.
The Primacy MXM4 was developed with Michelin Comfort Control Technology using computer-optimized design and precision manufacturing methods to reduce vibration and road noise. The tire’s internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by Michelin’s BAZ (Banded At Zero) spiral-wrapped polyamide cord that stabilizes the tread area to enhance treadwear, handling and high-speed capability. The Primacy MXM4 features a polyester cord body to provide a smooth ride.
Pilot Sport A/S Plus
The Pilot Sport A/S Plus is the Ultra High Performance All-Season tire member of Michelin’s Pilot family of low profile, high-speed tires that represents the evolution of the Pilot Sport A/S. Developed for the drivers of high-end sports cars, sporty coupes and performance sedans, the Pilot Sport A/S Plus is designed to combine enhanced all-weather performance, wet grip and treadwear along with year-round traction, including in light snow.
The Pilot Sport A/S Plus features Michelin’s TriFusion Compound that molds three different tread compounds side-by-side using the precise capabilities of Michelin’s “C3M” tire manufacturing process. The tread compound in both shoulders improves dry handling, the compound used between the shoulders and center rib enhances wet, snow and cold weather traction while the compound used in the center rib boosts wet traction. These three compounds are molded into a directional tread design (shared with Pilot Sport A/S tires) that features a continuous circumferential center rib (to provide communicative road feel and reduce noise on dry roads), high angle directional tread blocks (to sharpen steering response and dry road handling) along with circumferential and high angle lateral grooves (to resist hydroplaning and enhance wet traction). The tire’s internal structure includes two high-tensile, lightweight steel cord belts under the tread area reinforced with Michelin’s “Filament At Zero” (FAZ) technology that spirally wraps an individual strand of polyamide across the entire tread (similar to the way fishing line is wound onto a fishing reel) to increase treadwear and ride comfort while providing high speed durability and predictable handling.
NOTE: Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires can be mixed with earlier Pilot Sport A/S tires in axle pairs as long as the Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires are installed on the rear axle.
Primacy MXV4
Primacy MXV4 tires are Michelin’s Grand Touring All-Season tires developed to meet the needs of coupes and sedans, as well as family minivans and crossover utility vehicles. Michelin Primacy MXV4 tires are designed to offer a quiet, comfortable ride, long tread life, responsive handling and all-season traction, including in light snow.
Primacy MXV4 tires feature an all-season tread compound molded into a symmetric design that combines notched shoulders, independent intermediate tread blocks and continuous center ribs. Michelin’s Active Sipes alternately lock together and open as needed to provide increased biting edges that grip the road to provide all-season handling, especially in rain and snow.
Michelin’s Advanced MaxTouch Construction results in a tuned footprint shape that allows for long-lasting, even treadwear while their Comfort Control Technology uses computer-optimized design and precision manufacturing to reduce vibrations and road noise to deliver a comfortable ride. The tire’s internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced with Michelin’s BAZ Technology (spirally wrapped polyamide, Banded At Zero degrees) to reinforce the Primacy MXV4′s twin steel belts and provide high-speed durability while it enhances ride comfort.
Energy Saver
Grand Touring Summer tires are for drivers who want a combination of sophisticated appearance, competent handling and H-speed rated (or higher) durability, along with dry and wet traction from their tires. Often used as Original Equipment (O.E.) on sophisticated coupes and luxurious performance sedans, Grand Touring Summer tires are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.
O.E. Grand Touring Summer tires are typically purchased as direct replacements for worn-out pairs/sets of the vehicle’s original tires. They can also be used for other vehicle applications in complete sets of four or axle pairs if available in an appropriate size, load range and speed rating to match the existing O.E. tires’ performance category and specifications.
Primacy HP
The Primacy HP is Michelin’s Grand Touring Summer tire developed to provide longer tread life and lasting performance throughout the tire’s life, as well as better braking, steering control and handling on wet roads. The Primacy HP meets Michelin’s Green X standard* for low rolling resistance that confirms the tire’s contribution to reducing vehicle fuel consumption and emissions of CO2 gases. While Primacy HP tires are designed to offer reliable traction in dry and wet conditions, they are not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.
Primacy HP tires benefit from Michelin design innovations known as A.S.M. (Architecture, Sculpture and Materials) reflecting Michelin’s ability to focus simultaneously on three fundamental factors that determine a tire’s capabilities. Using their A.S.M. design method, Michelin can develop tires that combine an architecture that deforms more easily to optimize contact with the road, a tread design sculpture that remains rigid so more of the footprint contributes to performance, and unique tread compound materials precisely blended by Michelin’s mixing technology.
Primacy HP tires use a new generation Michelin tread compound molded into an asymmetric tread design that features large, linked shoulder blocks, notched intermediate ribs and a solid center rib to combine responsive handling and high-speed stability with traction and even treadwear. The Primacy HP tire’s structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by size-optimized BAZ Technology (spiral-wrapped Polyamide Banded At Zero degrees to tire rotation) to enhance ride quality while providing high-speed durability.
*Specific sizes featuring Green X technology are identified as such on the SIZES & PRICING tab, as well as on the tire’s SPEC tab.
Michelin Pilot Primacy
The Michelin Pilot Primacy is a Grand Touring Summer tire that was developed to meet the needs of sporty luxury coupe and sedan drivers who want comfort and tread life along with performance. Used as original equipment, the Pilot Primacy also focuses on enhancing wet weather traction and hydroplaning resistance.Like all summer tires, the Pilot Primacy is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.
On the outside, the Pilot Primacy molds a silica-based tread compound into an asymmetric tread design that features stable independent outer shoulder tread blocks (to blend dry road handling with wet cornering traction), a continuous center rib (which reduces noise while providing constant road contact to enhance straight line stability), and a high angle grooved inner tread design (to further enhance wet grip and resist hydroplaning). Internally, the Pilot Primacy features twin high tensile steel belts that are supported by Michelin’s Banded At Zero (BAZ) Technology™ (spiral-wrapped reinforcement) to stabilize the tread area to enhance handling and high-speed capability.
